Mary Alice Ramsey, a mixed media artist at Sassafrass, is also an author who has books for sale at the studio. Ramsey is a writer and performance poet who has competed in and won regional competitions. Available at Sassafrass are her poetry book, Hard Hooved Hussy, along with two anthologies, Clotheslines and Women’s Spaces Women’s Places, which contain her work. Her writing in Hard Hooved Hussy is described by editor, Shirley Richburg, as, “provocative, sometimes sassy, sexy and always fascinating.” Both anthologies feature area writers and were edited by Celia Miles and Nancy Dillingham. Ramsey also did the cover art and illustrations for two of the books. Each sells for $20.00. Check out some of this poetry. It’s just one more reason why there’s “Sass” in Sassafrass.
